Rhinoplasty – Case 366
This lovely young woman had a large nose. On frontal view this isn’t evident however as soon as she would turn her nose would dominate her face. On profile the significant degree of her nasal projection out from her face is very noticeable.
Making noses smaller is often requested and needed. A small nose is desirable in a woman while a large nose doesn’t pose the same issue in a man. It is usually possible to create a smaller nose, the question is by how much. Here the most important variable is the anatomy the surgeon has to work with. This will be the limiting factor in most cases. An aggressive overly reduced nose job creates issues with breathing, long term stability and the degree of surgical control of the outcome. At times patients will have wish their nose could have been just a little bit more reduced. Making patients aware of the limits of surgical improvement is a very important part of the preoperative discussion.
These before and after photos show a typical result by the rhinoplasty surgeon Dr Oakley Smith from Toronto.
