While the benefits of a nose job are many, there is a bit of time involved in terms of recovery. However, it is not as much as you would think and the results are well worth it.

Nose Job Healing Time

How Long Does A Nose Job Take To Heal?

During your initial consultation, the plastic surgeon will typically discuss healing time with you. Recovery time varies for each individual. For most people, healing time is around one week, but this can vary depending on the type of procedure you’ve had. In general, most surgeons will recommend that you take ten days off of work to recover.

You will have a splint or bandage on for five to seven days, during which you will experience significant swelling and bruising, the latter of which will be under your eyes. You will be ‘restaurant-ready’ in anywhere from seven to ten days, which means it will not be noticeable that you have had surgery to the majority of people.

The bulk of your results (75%) will be evident in three to four weeks. Keep in mind that your nose will change dramatically in the first two to twelve weeks after undergoing rhinoplasty. However, you will not see the final result until nine months to a year have passed.

What You Can Expect During This Process?

You can expect swelling to occur after undergoing rhinoplasty but it will go away over the first few months. After a maximum of two weeks, however, the swelling and bruising should have subsided enough that most people will not notice much of a difference to your nose. You may have to wear foundation to cover bruising around the eyes, but in some cases this is not the case.

How To Promote Healing
  • Pay careful attention to your plastic surgeon’s post-op instructions.
  • Use your time during your recovery to simply rest and give your body time to heal. Avoid doing anything that could be stressful, such as working, house cleaning or paying bills.
  • Do not engage in activities that raise your heart rate and blood pressure for two weeks. This can cause delayed bleeding, which requires surgery and will prolong your healing time.
