Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Injection rhinoplasty, also known as Liquid Rhinoplasty, has become popular nowadays. It is possible to make significant improvements to the shape of your nose with no surgery, using a non-invasive technique with a very easy recovery and no downtime. With the use of injectable dermal fillers, Dr. Smith can help patients achieve attractive results with a non-surgical rhinoplasty.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty or also known as Liquid Rhinoplasty was created through the innovative work of experienced cosmetic surgeons across the globe. Well over a decade ago, Dr. Oakley Smith was the first in Toronto to start performing this method of nasal enhancement.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal injectables, fillers such as Teosyal and Botox to enhance and improve the nose’s shape without trauma of surgery. When we age the nose can begin to sag and become more hooked, this happens around the age of 40, which can make your whole face appear droopy. Botox can help by lifting the nose. For this type of treatment an injection of Botox at the base of the nose (between the nostrils), which can release the depressor muscle that pulls the nose downward, making the nasal tip appear more lifted.
Minor Improvements Targeted
Lift and enhance the shape of the nasal tip
Correct nasal asymmetry
Sculpt the profile of the nasal bridge
Smooth out nasal bumps or irregularities
Limitations and Risks
What is less well understood is the nose is different for the rest of the face. It’s more difficult to achieve improvements, the changes need to be more precise, the anatomy is complex and dangerous. Many clinics refuse to perform injection rhinoplasty for these reasons. Here is a place you don’t want inexperienced injectors or practitioners with limited knowledge of the intricate structures of the nose. The nose is a difficult and dangerous place to inject. The arteries have connections to the back of the eye and there have been situations where someone has become blind because of this. This highlights the need for a knowledgeable and experienced injector. Furthermore the nasal skin is at higher risk than the face for losing its blood supply from injections. Having an experienced injector who knows the anatomy of the nose reduces this risk.
Liquid Rhinoplasty is non-invasive, there’s no cutting, no visible scarring, and there’s very little to no pain, nor downtime for recovery. Non-surgical rhinoplasty helps to correct minor problems in the shape, size, or proportion of the nose that are causing significant issues in terms of a patient’s overall facial appearance. However the one thing it can’t correct is the size of your nose. In fact by adding volume it creates a bigger nose. However in good candidates, this isn’t a problem. Therefore choosing an experienced injector is obviously a critical element.
Maintenance is Required
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is not permanent like surgical rhinoplasty. This means if you are not satisfied with your results you can receive touch-ups or develop a new treatment plan. Injectables are delivered with a very fine needle instead of a surgical scalpel, so they can be used more precisely to achieve a finer, more exact result. This is an important difference between surgery and nasal injections. Injections are more accurate than surgery. Case in point, injections are often used after surgery for a more precise result than surgery achieved. However surgery can achieve a greater overall improvement than injections alone. In summary, injections usually achieve a less degree of improvement but more often than surgery which can usually provide a greater improvement but less consistently. Finally, only a minority of people have nasal anatomy which makes them good candidates for injection rhinoplasty. These are noses which are crooked or have poorly developed bridges.
